From 27 to 28 November 2024, World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (WHITRAP) hosted the 7th Annual Meeting of HeritAP on World Heritage Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals in Hangzhou, China. This meeting was jointly organized by World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO, Shanghai Center (hereinafter referred to as “WHITRAP Shanghai”) and the Management Committee of Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area, with co-organization by the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University and the Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd.
WHITRAP Shanghai invited senior experts to further explain the policies and practices of World Heritage Contributing to Sustainable Development at home and abroad, announce the first Good Practices Award: Environment and Resilience, and interpreted and Call for Good Practices: Prosperity and Livelihoods. WHITRAP Shanghai will analyze the cases in each session and submit a regional report to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, highlighting the unique significance and contribution of World Heritage in the Asia-Pacific region to sustainable development.
