To amplify the influence of this forum and to facilitate communication among UNESCO multi-designated sites, Online Workshop 2022 of Forum for UNESCO Multi-designated is to be held from every Wednesday, from Aug.24 –Sep.28 by Huangshan together with Shennongjia, inviting leaders, experts, and site managers to share their knowledge and practice on UNESCO designations management.
Introduction.
The Forum for UNESCO Multi-designated Sites is initiated by 4 UNESCO multi-designated sites – Huangshan(China), Shennongjia(China), Cilen to Vallo di Diano e Alburni(Italy) and Azores(Portugal). It aims to provide a platform to exchange experience on integrated management of UNESCO multi-designations and facilitate cooperation among forum members.
Prof. Shahbaz khan, Director and Representative of UNESCO Beijing Office gave an online lecture “Multi-designated Sites Governance and UNESCO ESD” as the first presenter of the forum on 24th August.
During his presentation, Prof. Khan gave the introduction to the Multi-designated Areas, Benefits of Multiple Designations Management, Challenges of Multiple Designations Management, and the close linkage between Designated Sites and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Besides, Prof. Khan vividly explained the Relationship between ESD and Environmental Education (EE) framework, ESD and Management in Designated Sites, UNESCO World Conference on ESD and Five Priority Action Areas for ESD. At the end of his speech, Prof. Khan introduced how UNESCO supports the Country Level Multi-Stakeholder Initiative to achieve the Five Priority Action Areas of ESD for 2030.
