Call for Papers for the 2024 Living Heritage Series

Introduction.
The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) and The International Centre for the Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites under the auspices of UNESCO (WHIPIC) are pleased to invite you to be a tentative author of the 2024 Living Heritage Series, from 15 December 2023 to 4 February 2024.
The theme of this book is ‘Enhancing the Viability of the Community.’ Manuscriptors may submit articles on community-related topics, including but not limited to: Under the theme ‘The concept of community and the role of traditional owners’, ‘Definition and roles of communities, stakeholders, rights holders and participants in the context of World Heritage and intangible cultural heritage’, ‘Reflecting diverse values at local, national and international levels’ Contents such as ‘The role of the community in interpreting and presenting heritage to protect the community’, ‘Future prospects for using community experience and traditional knowledge in heritage processes including protection, management, conservation, interpretation and presentation’ and ‘Culture in a changing world’ Under the theme of ‘community participation in heritage practice’, ‘examples of community responses to recent issues such as natural disasters, climate change, mass tourism, and disappearance of traditional skills’, ‘examples of community participation to integrate tangible and intangible elements in heritage protection and management’. , ‘heritage interpretation and presentation that respects the diverse narratives of various communities’ could be covered. This book aims to discuss communities’ role in protecting intangible and world cultural heritage.

This call for papers is open to all. The full paper should be between 3,500 and 4,000 words and written in English. Authors wishing to contribute an article should submit the Application Form via the Secretariat email address before 4 February 2024 18:00 KST.
