Remote Sensing for Archaeology ,Digital Heritage Conservation
Rixia Yang is currently an Associate Professor of the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She has been involved in the use of remote sensing and GIS in archaeology for about twenty years, and has published a number of articles and chapters related to digital archaeology. She is one of the first members of the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST), a Category-II Centre under the auspices of UNESCO. Her research interests focus upon digital environment archaeology, including the uses of virtual reality and other techniques for the interpretation of archaeological sites. Previously her work focused on remote sensing for archaeology in central China, and digital methods for collecting data and the use of 3D modelling for the representation of archaeological site. Her current research projects include 3D modelling for the surroundings of Shang Dynasty graveyards in China, research on the distribution and disease risk of the World Cultural Heritage in the Belt and Road.
