Dr. Eman Assi earned her Phd. in 1998 from Edinburgh College of Art, Msc. in Urban Design from Pratt Institute, NY, 1990. Dr. Assi has been working in both the academic field as well as the professional one. In 2006 Dr. Eman joined the Department of Architecture at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. Dr. Assi has been working as consultant in projects related to documentation, conservation, and management of cultural heritage. At Dubai Municipality, she has been managing development of Dubai Historic Area project. She is responsible for conducting many workshops and chairing the scientific committee of the third and fourth international architectural conservation conference 2012 and 2015. Dr. Assi has several publications. In 2014, her book on traditional houses of Dubai in both English and Arabic received an award from the Sultan bin Salman Award of Cultural Heritage. At present, Dr. Assi is an expert member CIVVIH, ICOMOS , CIIC and recently she joined the ISC20th.
