Ms XIAO Shizhen, an Professor, Ph.D in Guizhou Normal University, Guizhou Province, China, is also a deputy secretary of the National Expert Committee on World Heritage in the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. She is a geographer interested especially in karst and world natural heritage research. She has 15 years experience on World Natural Heritage nomination, research, conservation and utilization. She was closely involved in South China Karst World Natural Heritage Nomination including both phase I and phase II, China Danxia World Natural Heritage Nomination and Fanjingshan World Natural Heritage Nomination. She was also invited to participate in the consultation for Hubei Shennongjia, Qinghai Hoh Xil, and MIGRATORY BIRD SANCTUARIES ALONG THE COAST OF YELLOW SEA-BOHAI GULF OF CHINA (PHASE I) WH nomination work. Besides, she was responsible for some studies related with WH utilization and management, including Environmental Impact Assessment of the Planned Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway that would cross the Buffer Zone of Libo Karst, State of Conservation of Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area etc. World Natural Heritage monitoring and sustainable development research and practice are also her favorite fields.
